Kendriya Vidyalaya Barabanki was established in July 1996.
The building of Vidyalaya was A-O type. The Vidyalaya was established up to class X and the permission was sanctioned to the Vidyalaya to open class XI Science in 2009-2010.
Now it is running up to class XII with science stream.
The Vidyalaya initially was started in Vikas Bhawan Barabanki a rented building and later on it was shifted to Lakhperabagh Barabanki in its own building.
Kendriya Vidyalaya primarily caters to the educational need of the children of Central Govt. Employee, including Defence Personnel liable to frequent transfers throughout the country. Needless to say, they have a common syllabus and are affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi. The aim of Kendriya Vidyalayas is to provide education according to the Principles of the New Education Policy, to bring out the best and noblest qualities in children, to infuse in its students a feeling of patriotism, brotherhood and national integration so as to make them good and loyal citizens, the nation builders of tomorrow in the real sense.
